Custom Exterior & Office Signage for Team Industrial's New Alvin & Sugar Land Facilities

Team Industrial is a specialized services provider to heavy industrial companies.

Their work is defined by engineering discipline, safety, and equipment that has to perform under demanding conditions. When the company built out new facilities in Alvin and Sugar Land, the signage identifying those buildings needed to reflect that same standard of workmanship.

OPPORTUNITY

In 2015, Team Industrial came to us carrying a costly lesson from a previous sign company.

The sign they had purchased was failing on nearly every front. It was separating from the wall, the internal lighting had gone dark, and because the cabinet had been riveted shut there was no way to service it—replacing a single bulb would have meant breaking the sign apart to get inside. There was no warranty on the materials and no service program behind the product. In practice, they had bought a disposable sign for the price of a permanent one. What they wanted the second time around was a sign manufactured to the highest standards, a true reflection of their own commitment to excellence: high-quality custom fabrication with a clean finish, a warranty on the materials, and a design that allowed internal lamps to be changed.

ACTION

After reviewing the failures of the original sign with Team Industrial, we engineered a replacement around the three things the first sign never delivered—finish quality, warranty coverage, and serviceable access to the lighting.

Because we run a custom fabrication shop, we acquire raw material of better quality and finish it ourselves rather than working from low-grade prefinished stock. That single difference drives most of a sign's service life—high quality materials pay for themselves in longevity, and your sign is guaranteed to last far longer without peeling paint or vinyl or broken lights.

For this sign we recommended a fully redesigned cabinet that allowed lights to be replaced easily, correcting the exact failure of the riveted original; a thicker grade of aluminum to prevent dents and bends, which we brush-finished in house; and push-through acrylic letters lit from the back for crisp nighttime legibility and a dimensional daytime read.

To ensure that Team Industrial was getting exactly what they wanted, we showed them a range of actual samples, so they could compare finishes against real pricing and make educated decisions about the tradeoffs. We offer more finishes and carry more samples than many of our competitors. We were also able to give the client a five year warranty on the LED lights.

RESULTS

Team Industrial ended up with building signage engineered to the same standard as their own work—and, just as importantly, signage that can be maintained for decades rather than replaced in a few years.

The package extended beyond primary building identification to include exterior building signage at the Alvin facility, dimensional address numerals, and interior signage supporting the buildings. With serviceable construction, in-house-finished heavy gauge aluminum, and a warranty standing behind the illumination, the total cost of ownership landed well below what a cheaper sign had already cost them once.
